Paper
Bag Craft
Let's have some fun. Take that lunch sized paper
bag your lunch came in. Don’t throw it away! There's way more you can do
with it than carry your sandwich and chips.
I learned to make all kinds of fun sculptures and
puppets with paper bags. Did I learn this in preschool? Probably, but I
don’t have the slightest memory of that time in my life.
Maybe you think I have too much time on my hands,
but after my friends and I get lunch, we sit around at the place and gab.
Know what I mean? It’s an important part of our day. It’s our time
together.
So, we’re sitting and talking with the remains of
lunch all over the table, and I just got to do something with my hands.
Can’t just sit there, nope, gotta do, do, do. So I take the empty paper
bag and start to fold.
Just by folding, you can make so many cool things.
All my friends do it too, now. Sometimes we build these elaborate
structures all over the table and then we all just blow the whole thing
over. It’s hilarious.
But I like to make things by myself, too. To get
your imagination going, here’s a list of some animals I like to make with
paper bags: frogs, kangaroos, lions, reindeer, turkeys, wolves.
Some of my friends have little kids at home, and I
can dig on playing with them sometimes. I actually like to do the paper
bag craft with them, cause they have so much fun with it.
To do simple paper bag craft with kids (or just
alone), you will need your imagination, a paper bag, of course, craft
paper or construction paper, scissors, glue or tape, crayons and magic
markers. Just decorate the bag up any old way you think looks good! Use
feathers, too; they’re the greatest.
Now get a bigger paper bag and go ahead and put it
over your head. It’s a mask! Cut some eyeholes and then start decorating!
Why stop at a mask? Make a whole paper bag costume. It can be anything,
and so can you!
